Best Scenic Drives To See Fall Foliage in Massachusetts

It’s still summer here in Lexington, Massachusetts, but we’re at that time of year when you can start almost tasting fall. And, needless to say, fall is an absolutely bewitching season in Greater Boston, first and foremost on account of some truly world-class autumn foliage.

A luxury boutique guestroom or suite here at The Inn at Hastings Park serves as an unbeatable springboard for enjoying those extraordinary fall colors, and otherwise soaking up the marvelous autumnal ambience our area has in spades.

Indulge in a Little “Leaf-Peeping” on a Fall Getaway to The Inn at Hastings Park: Good Drives for Autumn Colors Near Lexington, MA

We concur with Visit New England in highlighting the short but lovely drive from Lexington to Concord, MA when it comes to fall colors.

After all, this route makes it easy not only to revel in reds, oranges, goldens, and other hues contributed by plenty of maple and other hardwood canopies, but also drift through the different dimensions of American history so palpable in our neck of the woods (if you will).

Enjoy fall colors and see some momentous landmarks of the American Revolution at Minute Man National Historical Park, for example: along the Battle Road Trail, for example, or at the fateful Old North Bridge.

On that drive, you can also easily weave in a visit to Walden Pond, where hopefully you can enjoy the sight of fall colors reflected in the famous waters of this glacial lake that so inspired Henry David Thoreau.

Other good drives from The Inn for leaf-peeping, and with opportunities to get out and do some walking as well, include the jaunts up to Chamberlin Woods, Great Brook Farm State Park, and the Billerica State Forest, to name a few (and, indeed, a few that could be combined into one circuit).

Peak Fall Colors in the Lexington, MA Area

The timing and vibrancy of fall colors always varies a bit from year to year depending on weather conditions. But you’ve usually got a good shot at enjoying peak regional foliage between early and mid-October, with plenty of seasonal beauty on either end of that window as well.
