Sustainability is woven into every aspect of the guest experience—from the way we source our ingredients to how we care for our historic property and surrounding community. We are committed to thoughtful practices that reduce environmental impact, support local partners, and preserve the character of our region for generations to come. By embracing responsible sourcing, mindful operations, and community engagement, we strive to create a stay that is both luxurious and consciously connected to the world around us.
We believe that ingredients grown and harvested close to home—guided by the rhythms of the seasons and cultivated through responsible, sustainable practices—offer not only exceptional flavor, but a deeper connection to the land, the sea, and our community. Each dish is an expression of place, shaped by the care of those who steward it. In this spirit, and in alignment with the commitments of Relais & Châteaux to preserve culinary traditions, protect biodiversity, and support local economies, we are proud to partner with producers who share our values of integrity, quality, and environmental respect. We gratefully acknowledge the artisans and growers whose dedication bring these menu to life:
Captain Marden’s Seafood, Westwood, Joyberry Farm, Mason, NH
Little Leaf Farms, Shirley, MA
The Grey Barn and Farm, Chilmark, MA
Wilson Farm, Lexington, MA
Wulf’s Fish, Boston, MA

At Town Meeting Bistro we are dedicated to building a more responsible, sustainable, and environmentally conscious future. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we strive to contribute to the regeneration and development of marine ecosystems. Our approach includes removing threatened species from our menus until their populations recover, helping protect marine biodiversity. We are also reviewing our seafood sourcing in partnership with Ethic Ocean to ensure we serve products from healthy stocks or sustainable farms.

Taking daily action toward a more humane world is reflected in the intentional partnerships and programs centered near the Inn at Hastings Park. Through collaboration with the Cotting School Project Bridges, a community-based vocational program, students are empowered to build real-world skills by working alongside local employers, strengthening independence, confidence, and a sense of belonging in the broader community. In this same spirit of inclusion and growth, offering English language classes as part of employee benefits fosters accessibility, dignity, and upward mobility within the workforce. Extending care beyond the workplace, a partnership with the Stalbrook Elementary School in Bellingham, Massachusetts, through its Backpack Program ensures that students and their families experiencing food insecurity receive discreet, nutritious weekend meals, supporting both health and stability. Together, these commitments form a sustainable and philanthropic ecosystem—one that quietly but consistently invests in education, equity, and the everyday nourishment of human potential.

At The Inn at Hastings Park, sustainability is embraced as a guiding principle that shapes every aspect of the guest room experience with quiet intention and care. The property reduces paper use through paperless check-in and check-out, offering printed folios only upon request on recycled paper, while digital Press Reader access replaces traditional newspapers and magazines. In-room operations are designed to conserve resources, with energy management systems that power down lights and televisions during servicing, complemented by energy-efficient lighting throughout.
Single-use plastics are minimized through thoughtful alternatives such as bamboo or recyclable key cards, refillable glass water bottles, and responsibly packaged “to-go” water offered in cartons when requested. Guest comfort remains paramount, supported by a linen reuse program, compostable laundry and amenity bags, and sustainably packaged essentials—including recyclable coffee amenities, compostable snack packaging, and vanity kits with minimal environmental impact. Bathroom amenities from LATHER further reflect this ethos, with formulations and packaging designed to be mindful of ocean conservation and material reuse.
Even small details are considered: wooden or bamboo Do Not Disturb signs, drawer linings removed to eliminate unnecessary materials, and in-room guides printed on recyclable cardstock. Together, these initiatives reflect a holistic commitment to stewardship—creating a refined hospitality experience that honors both guest wellbeing and environmental responsibility in equal measure.
