Boston Hotels Near the St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Is there a better place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than Boston, a city with such incredibly deep Irish-American roots and pride? We really don’t think so, and we invite you to choose the Inn at Hastings Park in nearby Lexington, Massachusetts as your well-appointed home base for enjoying Bean Town’s nationally famous St. Patrick’s Day parade.

The South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade

It’s believed that Boston actually hosted the very first St. Patrick’s Day celebration in North America, way back in 1737. In 1901, the St. Patrick’s Day parade moved to South Boston, the event coming to mark not only the Irish-culture celebration but also Evacuation Day. That’s the official holiday that commemorates the expulsion of British troops from the city on March 17, 1776—the very first victory for General George Washington and his Continental Army, which successfully held Dorchester Heights during the Siege of Boston.

The South Boston St. Patrick’s Day/Evacuation Day Parade, presented by the South Boston Allied War Veterans Council, will take place on Sunday, March 17th, stepping off on West Broadway and ending at Dorchester Avenue. From Broadway itself to Thomas Park, there are many good vantages to enjoy the proceedings, which include pipe bands, floats, fire trucks, and other pageantry.

This ranks among the most iconic celebrations of St. Patrick’s Day in the U.S.: Come experience it for yourself this year!
