The 2023 Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular
A beloved tradition stretching back to 1929—and still completely free to enjoy—the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular goes down at the defining Art Deco landmark of the Hatch Memorial Shell on the Charles River Esplanade.
This birthday bash for the USA (broadcast live nationally) is one heck of a music-filled gala, needless to say, with conductor Keith Lockhart and “America’s Orchestra” anchoring the tuneful proceedings. They’re joined by a slew of special guests, which this year include R&B legend En Vogue, Broadway star Mandy Gonzalez, and country tag-team LOCASH.
Alton Fitzgerald White, Elizabeth Stanley, and Andrea Jones-Sojola will also be taking part, as will the U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus, leading a patriotic singalong.
The Pops will conclude the musical program, per usual, with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, which segues the celebration to the Fireworks Spectacular proper. Beginning at about 10:30 PM, an eye-popping display of pyrotechnics will boom and flash over the Charles River. The riverfront fireworks show lasts a lavish half-hour or so.
