Some of the most glorious fall colors in the world, bar none, flare up the autumnal landscape of New England, and here at the Inn at Hastings Park we feel very privileged indeed to have this ravishing seasonal show of Mother Nature right at our doorstep.
People from all over the world, in fact, journey to Massachusetts and other corners of New England (as well as adjacent Canada) to indulge in “leaf-peeping,” and it’s very much an activity you can enjoy with little effort on a fall getaway at the Inn at Hastings Park.
The fact that prime leaf-peeping season in our neck of the woods (literally) overlaps with the bountiful autumn-harvest season only ups the appeal of a stay with us, as fine dining and culinary arts are very much part of our hospitality tapestry!
Enjoying Fall Colors During an Inn at Hastings Park Idyll
Our mixed-hardwood forests here in the Greater Boston area put on a fabulous autumn spectacle, typically peaking sometime between early and mid-October but with plenty of leadup and wind-down colors to enjoy outside of that climactic window.
From the brilliant canopies of maples, hickories, oaks, ashes, birches, tupelos, and other deciduous trees to understory fire contributed by shrubs such as shadbush and ironwood, our native Southern New England forests, woodlands, and wetlands present a swoony mosaic of crimson, golden, orange, burgundy, and brown this time of year. And, needless to say, non-native street and arboretum trees add their own chromatic muscle to the proceedings.
From the heart of downtown Lexington to such natural areas as Walden Pond, Great Brook Farm State Park, and Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, you’ve got many fine leaf-peeping destinations within easy reach of your Inn at Hastings Park guestroom or suite to check out.
Fall Dining & Culinary Events at the Inn at Hastings Park
In between leaf-peeping safaris, savor exquisite seasonal farm-to-table dining at our Town Meeting Bistro, the dishes of which can also be enjoyed outside in our lovely Culinary Garden through October.
And, as always given our strong focus on epicurean experiences, there are plenty of culinary events on the Inn at Hastings Park fall calendar. To highlight but a couple of examples, our October 15th Supper Club Series—a combination of cooking instruction and multicourse sit-down dinner complete with wine pairings—will be All About Roasts, while on October 23rd we’ll have another edition of our Farm to Vine Dinner Series: Battle des Bordeaux, bringing together delicious autumn produce from Lexington’s venerable and multigenerational Wilson Farm and some legendary wines from Bordeaux.
